it's definitely crazy. but i think it says something about the bands that ppl here have been seeing for years, that they have always just played enough that they are accessible. grateful dead back in the day might not have been ticketmaster'd, but you had to get there, etc. so they and, oh ida know, (phish, moe.,) play runs of at least 2 nights in at least the same area.. oh blah blah, tnx moe. fu ticketmaster

rob'd

moe. hat ------------------->

that's how i am describing my weekend. no more posts from home. i thought i'd get back and the next post i would put up would be about moe. in briefest terms, moe. is the band that i go see as much as i can these days. about 20 times a year for the last few. they rule. i saw 2 nights in denver a couple weeks ago and was psyched for two nights in NYC this weekend. 10 mins before the show started, i got a call/text from my roommate. he got home to the door wide open and no flat screens or laptops. thank GOD my cat had stuck around. it made for quite a weird start to the weekend. i managed to have a blast for the most part and tried not to think about it but getting home to no computer, no internet, and my clothes sort of torn out of the closet and drawers was not so fun. i am bummed. the laptop was a brand new macbook, the one they just came out with in october. it was my first laptop, my first new computer in many years, i had been using an old desktop from 2001 up until then. it finally died so for xmas and my birthday i ta
lked my parents into the new mac. it was beautiful. oh macbook, i hardly knew ye. my birthday present lasted just 3 days past my birthday. basically, boohoo. i didn't have insurance cuz i just never got around to it, this was the first valuable item i have owned, really!

rob derhak is the bassist for moe. and my fav member. he always looks like we crack him up as much as he does for us. this weekend = rob'd.

more sal!

ha! Someone said I should put a video of my cat on here. Don't have to ask me twice! OK, so I actually don't have much great video of her, for one thing she is black and doesn't show up well! For another I just haven't tried much. But here's some of her as a little baby, falling off the table, and squealing! ok the second one you can't see much.. but listen!

my cat

Why not complete the immediate family with a little rant about my kitty. I am fighting becoming a total cat lady, but what can I say, I have wanted my own kitten for ages! This summer I was alone in my apartment, and realized I had been there two whole years, and had a job longer than one, and that meant that it might finally be time. Within a week, I was at a party at my sister's boyfriend's family's house, out in the burbs, and I hear the neighbor kid say, "Does anyone want a kitten?" Doth my ears deceive me, I thought! They did not! "My cat had kittens yesterday, want to see?" um, YES! They were awesome, four little black sausages. I said I would think about it and in a couple of days I said yes, put my name on one of them!

So in August my friend and I got a zipcar and a cardboard box and headed back out to Grafton. There was one of the four left, a little girl, and she was scared to death of me. But I finally caught her, stuffed her in the box, and brought her to Cambridge.

Eventually, after a day or two, she came out of hiding and has since become very friendly and curious!

Salisbury Paradise Johnson is now 7 months old. This pic is from when I took her home for Christmas and my parents' cat kept her mostly corralled in my room. It was like passive aggressive Animal Planet all week.

against the rules?

I am wondering if I have committed the cardinal sin of blogging.. Editing too much! Last night I read over some of the parts about my family and wanted to change the wording and change some stuff, so I did. I have done it a few times already. I got it in my head that I would compare this whole thing to a larger work, like a book, that gets edited over time. Other things I have, like my photo site, I go back to a lot and add captions, edit pictures, etc.

Today I started thinking that I am really supposed to leave things as they are for the most part, and keep.. historical accuracy? as far as what I wrote. I am going to try and take that approach from now on..

back from CO

wow.. packed full weekend. or long weekend.

It was really great to see Lauren. We...

-made spaghetti and meatballs
-went to Boulder and ate lunch at the Tajik tea house
-bought dresses at Goldmine, my new favorite store in the world. Vintage, well organized, and well priced! You rarely get it all.
-Ordered pizza
-drank the 13-minute pour that Coors makes
-got fish tacos at a chain restaurant
-finally went on the Coors brewery tour!
-(bought the freshest Coors money can buy)

...I think that's a reasonable account of events.

Then I went to see moe. at the Fillmore in Denver Friday and Saturday. It was great to see them, and everyone who came, from all over the country!

Saturday a few of us went down to the 'Garden of the Gods', very impressive rock formations. I was so impressed that I didn't really bother to read the signage (good tourism student, huh..).. but as I walked around I said to my friend "I wonder how this happened!". The man behind us HAD read the plaques and explained: the ground was smoothed flat by rivers, and at some point as the Rocky Mountains moved, those flattened pieces were dislodged and pushed straight up!

I returned for a long work day. A kind of fancy event that started tonight, and it went pretty well. I am pleased/relieved/going to sleep in tomorrow because I worked late. yeah!
